Jim Carrey Movies That You Can’t Miss

When it comes to good comedy movies, there’s only one maestro’s name that comes to mind – Jim Carrey.
Not only has Jim Carrey excelled in comedy movies, but he has also proven his mettle by acting in serious films. No matter what role he played, he always made sure to put his heart and soul into it.
Today, I’ll talk about some of my personal favorite Jim Carrey movies that I feel like you shouldn’t miss out on. You can stream these movies using Xfinity Stream on your devices, but for that, you need to have an Xfinity TV service or Xfinity Internet as a prerequisite for the service.
So, with your streaming situation all sorted out, here are some of the best Jim Carrey movies you need to watch. Let’s get into it!
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Though this wasn’t a comedy movie, I still believe it’s one of Jim Carrey’s best performances. The movie is based on the novel series of the same name, written by Lemony Snicket, and Jim’s role was that of the antagonist, Count Olaf, which he played to perfection.
The movie is about the three Baudelaire orphans, who lose their parents in a fire that was caused by Count Olaf, who is after the fortune that the parents left behind. The movie is based on the first three books, as the orphans are cycled between guardians, and Count Olaf kills all of them so that he can become their guardian and take the fortune for himself.
Jim Carrey added the perfect balance of being a sinister character with a comedic touch, which made the character memorable, even today.
Though there was a Netflix adaptation too, in which Neil Patrick Harris played the role of Count Olaf, it still wasn’t as good as Jim Carrey’s performance.
Bruce Almighty
This is another movie that is among my all-time favorites. In this movie, Jim plays the character of Bruce, who is a newscaster who’s very fed up with life because nothing works out his way.
He has reason to believe that God “ignores” him on purpose.
However, he eventually meets God himself, and to give Bruce an idea of what it’s like to be God, Bruce is given the powers of God for a couple of days. At first, Bruce uses all his powers to his own advantage, but things get difficult when he has to cater to other people’s problems, and he realizes how difficult the job is.
The movie is full of iconic comedy scenes, including Steve Carell’s legendary news scene that people enjoy watching even today. Bruce Almighty is definitely the kind of movie you can’t miss!
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
I can’t write a listicle on Jim Carrey without mentioning Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in it, since the movie is absolutely phenomenal. Again, this movie isn’t a comedy and has a more serious tone, but it is among Jim Carrey’s best movies of all time.
Kate Winslet co-stars with Jim in the movie, and both of them have a brilliant chemistry in the movie.
The movie is about how both characters go through a rough relationship until Clementine (Kate) decides that she wants to have Joel (Jim) scientifically removed from her memories through a machine.
When Joel hears of this, he impulsively decides to do the same, but during the process, he realizes that he wants to keep Clementine in his memories. The movie is so beautiful that I find myself watching it over and over again. Definitely the kind of movie that you can’t miss.
Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
Though this movie was released in 1994, it is still one of the best comedy movies you could watch. Jim ate and left no crumbs as he took on the role of Ace Ventura, a well-known pet detective who takes on the cases of kidnapped animals.
While the movie sounds like it has a boring plot, the movie actually has an interesting story, and the comedy is spot-on!
Jim Carrey worked alongside Courteney Cox, and both of them were absolutely brilliant in playing their roles. So, if you want to watch a movie that has you laughing through the entirety of it, then Ace Ventura: Pet Detective should be on your list of Jim Carrey movies to watch!
Liar Liar
This is yet another iconic movie, another notch in Jim Carrey’s belt that you can’t miss. In the movie, Jim is a successful lawyer whose whole life depends on lying. However, on his son’s birthday, his son wishes for his dad’s inability to tell a lie, and it comes true!
Thus, chaos ensues as he is not able to lie and is actually painfully honest during even the most serious of situations. If you’re looking to watch Jim Carrey in his prime, this is the one film that you definitely need to watch. The movie is so funny, it’ll have you in stitches!
This brings my listicle to an end. Just make sure you watch all these movies so you can see how brilliant Jim Carrey has been as an actor over the years.
